We are in immediate need of an experienced, driven, versatile Household Manager to help a socially minded tech and nonprofit entrepreneur. This is a full-time position working for one individual, but supporting his many efforts – no two days will be the same! You will be responsible for putting in place systems for smooth operation and communication ensuring the home is a place of relaxation, including personal care (wardrobe management, etc.), household chores (light cleaning, vendor management), and food preparation (healthy, mostly vegan meals).

Candidate will be proactive, energetic, detail-oriented and able to anticipate Principals’ needs and provide exceptional service in a timely manner. Qualified candidates can work independently, and can wear multiple hats and be hands on to an ever-changing list of priorities.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Food Prep
    • Regular planning, grocery shopping for and cooking nutritious meals for the principal (almost entirely vegan meals, occasionally will eat fish)
    • Occasional in house meal prep for small groups (2-3 people)
    • Organization of catering services if|as needed for larger gatherings
    • Formal culinary training is not required; however, the ability to prepare tasty, heart-healthy meals is needed
  • Cleaning |Upkeep
    • Make purchases and runs errands as needed
    • Daily pet care – feeding, cleaning, and general health
    • Manage wardrobe, including doing laundry and assisting in packing for trips
    • Stock and maintain inventory of durable goods for properties
    • Order and maintain personal stock for principals: toiletries, clothes, travel supplies
    • Create and maintain a household manual
    • Ensure all vendors go through NDA and background check
    • Create and maintain inventory spreadsheets
    • Light housekeeping
    • Interfacing vendors and assist in overseeing house related issues and maintenance
    • Vehicle maintenance
  • Personal Affairs
    • Minimal schedule management; calendar coordination through Google between Client, business and personal
    • Research and project support
    • Plan dinners and events with staff and principals to assure the smooth running of each event, attend events. Book and manage service staff as needed
    • Handle personal mail, packages, thank you notes, holiday cards, and correspondence
    • Additional projects and duties as directed by Client and|or Lifestyle Manager
    • Coordinate with Executive Assistant if|as needed

Key Requirements:

  • Not allergic to cats
  • Must maintain professionalism and be friendly with family, extended family, friends, guests, and other staff
  • Proven self-starter with ability to be self-managed – and also comfortable asking for help when needed
  • Must have valid driver’s license and ability to operate a vehicle to run errands as needed
  • Must exercise good judgment, confidentiality, tact, and patience
  • Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information on behalf of Principals
  • Ability to work with urgency and dedication, but without ego or drama (in other words, commitment to bringing passion with equanimity)
  • Stellar communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Comfort in, and ideally excitement for, a dynamic, evolving organization
  • Dedication to making the world a better place, and serving the teams and projects that are working towards this end
  • Proven ability to handle confidential, sensitive, or otherwise privileged information with grace and trust
  • Natural (or very well trained) organizer – you love lists, deadlines, color-coding
  • Able to be flexible and responsive to inevitably changing circumstances
  • Works well with a diverse team and independently
